Meet Grace Sampson, Manager, Business Development

I am currently a Manager, Business Development.  I manage half of the EMEA Business Development team (Nordics, BeNeLux, South and MEA) based in our EMEA HQ in Dublin.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what led you to join Informatica.

I’ve been working since I was 15 years old and worked in several companies before joining Informatica in 2007.  A recruiter approached me with the open Reception position here, and after reading up on the company, I jumped at the chance to apply.  It was a small enough office back then with under 40 people, but has now grown to approx. 100 people.  Since then I have taken on many roles within the company: Office Manager, Accounts Receivable, Contract Negotiations, EMEA Travel Coordinator,  and BDM.

What do you enjoy most about working at Informatica?

Informatica’s culture is one of the best I have worked for.  All my colleagues local to Dublin, in EMEA and across the world have been welcoming since day 1.  I really enjoy the team mentality and open-door policy (even with the Execs).  Throughout my career at Informatica, my goals have been recognized as important and I have received a lot of support to achieve them (from planning next steps, to college enrollment).

Tell us three things most people don’t know about you.

Haha, I’ve been here so long that there are a handful of people that know me so well they already know these things but what most people don’t know about me is:

  1. When I finished school, I wanted to be a photographer.
  2. Very little bothers me, but don’t approach me before I’ve had a cuppa tea in the morning.
  3. My favourite way to unwind is moshing and rock concerts – Incubus is next on my list.

If you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?

I wouldn’t live it down if I mentioned a superhero and their power incorrectly so I won’t try, but I would love to have telekinesis.  At the end of a long day I’d love a glass of wine to appear without having to move.

What advice would you give to job seekers looking to join Informatica?

My advice to prospects is simple.  Be yourself.  If you are yourself, you are more relaxed through the interview process which not only helps us place you on the team, but also allows you to decide if Informatica is the right fit for you personally.
