External Description:

Our Team

Our Adoption Services team plays one of the most important roles at Informatica: we ensure our customers quickly receive value from their investment, are successful with their implementation, and ultimately renew their subscription.   Renewals are the lifeblood of software as a service companies such as Informatica, and our team is a key component in achieving our company’s mission. We work on highly visible projects with our most strategic customers, including many of the largest and most well-known companies in the world, to solve their digital transformation challenges using our latest technologies.

Our Ideal Candidate

You’re not the ordinary consultant.  Rather than working with only a few customers each year, you enjoy engaging with a new high-profile customer every few weeks.  More business consultant than pure technologist, you excel at uncovering, and then connecting, our customers’ strategic business drivers to Informatica’s technical capabilities.  You’re a practitioner at heart, and you understand what it takes to implement data and analytics solutions that make valuable business outcomes possible.  And most importantly, you enjoy being front and center in guiding customers and stakeholders through the pre-sale and post-sale process.  Whether it’s leading a data strategy workshop with C-level executives, helping a prospective customer craft their next-gen analytics business case, or advising on data governance best practices for a new implementation, you’re willing to take the time to truly partner with our customers while providing detailed explanations and exploring creative solutions. You find a collaborative work environment rewarding yet are equally adept at working independently. As an influential and effective teacher, you are eager to share your knowledge and best practices with others, and to develop and sustain an open line of communication with your supervisor and teammates.

Your Opportunity

This is a unique and highly visible role within Informatica.  You will deliver business consulting services to key customers and prospects, both in-person as well as remotely while working from home (you can be based anywhere in the U.S.), with the ultimate goal of ensuring their successful adoption of the Informatica solution.  By providing guidance on data strategy design and data governance implementation, best practices, solution architecture and design, use case definition, and program planning, your efforts will build confidence within our customer organizations and lead to accelerated sales cycles, larger sales deal values, and higher subscription renewal rates.  And as your skills and experience grow, you will be able to grow your career with Informatica, either in expanded and more senior consulting roles, or into leadership roles within Adoption Services, Professional Services, or other parts of the company.

Your Responsibilities

Data Strategy and Governance Principal Consultants are responsible for providing pre-sales and post-sales business-oriented services including:

  • Engaging with 5-10 accounts simultaneously, working with each towards their implementation success
  • Providing a point of continuity and being a trusted advisor for our customers transitioning from pre-sales to post-sales
  • Engaging with and quickly building relationships with prospective customers during the pre-sales process to discover, understand, and document their data-related challenges, opportunities, and desired business outcomes
  • Inspiring customers regarding the value of Data Strategy and Governance by sharing customer success stories, sharing your own experiences, and showing them the art of the possible related to their specific business needs
  • Developing key relationships with the customer at all levels of the organization, including C-level executives
  • Project work including program planning, implementation planning, use case definition, program communications, and overall change management
  • Leading pre-sales workshops and assessments for Data Strategy, Data Governance, and Advanced Analytics
  • Contributing to knowledge management activities to encapsulate knowledge and provide a foundation for improving our customer engagements
  • Mentoring less experienced staff to assist with business consulting related activities
  • Working collaboratively with our partner organizations (other system integrators and software providers) as needed to support overall customer success
  • Providing renewal rescue activities that may include customer problem resolution, use case definition, and product feature demonstration and application
  • Assisting customers in functional implementation efforts to ensure customer success, including rollout strategies and planning for end user deployments of products that support data governance and other data management solutions.
  • Working collaboratively with Informatica R&D teams by providing feedback based on customer use-cases, functional requirements and product enhancement requests
  • Identifying and documenting proof of value use cases, roles, and personas that need to be addressed during the sales process, and then using this knowledge to guide the customer during the post-sales implementation process
  • Supporting proof-of-concept activities by ensuring the technical capabilities of the Informatica solution are shown as clearly enabling the customer’s business outcomes and business value
  • Collecting success stories and obtaining customer references
  • Assisting in driving enhanced Informatica Professional Services revenue by identifying consulting services opportunities and providing input into proposals and statements of work

Your Qualifications

A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a data management practitioner, with at least 5 years of experience leading large-scale data management and/or analytics initiatives.  Must have experience implementing data governance programs, defining vision and data strategy, and influencing peers and senior leadership to buy into the strategy and overall business value of the solution.

Additional required qualifications for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including formal and informal presentations
  • Proven ability to effectively work as a business-oriented consultant with all levels of individuals—from C-level to individual contributors
