Your Opportunity
Informatica is looking for a bright, organized, and dedicated Sr. Hadoop Engineer with particular area of expertise in the implementation, maintenance and support of virtual and physical Hadoop, EMR and Azure Hadoop clusters at the company’s Redwood City, CA location.  The IT Operations organization maintains many systems that enable access to critical business resources and enforces policies to operate and secure them.

Reporting to the Director of IT Operations, the successful candidate will be a key contributor in a lean and high impact IT organization of over 200 people who are aligned in several geographically dispersed centers that support an employee base of over 4,500 people in over 25 countries.  The Sr. Hadoop Engineer will be part of the Enterprise Operations group and will work alongside Database, collaboration and identify management teams also reporting to the Director of IT Operations.

Your Responsibilities

As an individual senior contributor focusing on enabling employees to be even more successful at their jobs, your role will be to:

• Responsible for implementation and ongoing administration of Hadoop infrastructure of some or all of the big data systems in distributed cloud environments
• Cluster maintenance as well as creation and removal of nodes.
• HDFS support and maintenance.
• Setup security using Kerberos and AD on Cloudera, MapR and Hortonworks clusters.
• Setting up Linux users, setting up Kerberos principals and testing HDFS, Hive, Pig and MapReduce access for the new users.

• Automate operations, installation and monitoring of the Hadoop Framework specifically: HDFS, Map/Reduce, Yarn, HBase.
• Automate the setup of Hadoop Clusters
• Setup access controls on the cluster using sentry.
• Configuring TLS/SSL for HDFS, YARN, MapReduce, Hbase, Ranger, Hue, Impala, Oozie, Solr.
• Continuous evaluation of Hadoop infrastructure requirements and design/deploy solutions (high availability, big data clusters, etc)
• Cluster Monitoring and Troubleshooting

• Manage and review Hadoop log files
• Work with application teams to install Hadoop updates, patches, and version upgrades as required
• Create documentation, resolve support tickets and meet Business SLAs.
• Supporting production environment with availability and change management process

• Perform in a team orientated atmosphere, working with end users, developers, and other system administrators to determine the best possible method of supporting the systems.

Your Qualifications

Professional/Academic Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in Information Technology operations
• 7+ years of relevant professional experience with Big Data Technologies, specifically Hadoop
• 4+ years of demonstrated customer management experience
• 4+ years working in a corporate datacenter environment
• 3+ years AWS/Azure/Google Cloud experience
• Proven experience with automation
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking
• Excellent troubleshooting techniques
• Good communication skills over the phone, e-mail and documentation
• Strong team player capable of providing support across the IT organization to train and assist others
• Demonstrable ability to work with a diverse team across global time zones (i.e., US, India, Europe) to effectively complete tasks and objectives
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet specific deadlines through the use of strong organizational skills.
• Highly energetic, self-motivated, quick learner with the ability to work independently
