Our Team This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic team in an established company that is developing leading-edge technology. The “Intelligent Data Lake” team is responsible for building a new product focused on helping large enterprises provide a new way of empowering their decision makers, allowing them to find any data, discover data relationships, prepare and govern data for analysis in a uniquely collaborative way. Data handled by this product isn’t just sourced from controlled data warehouses but from varying new sources that are structured and unstructured in nature and at a scale that is beyond the relational data stores.

You will be involved with developing the next generation of Informatica’s “Intelligent Data Lake” software and leveraging your passion to drive innovation at Informatica.

Our Ideal Candidate You are an experienced software engineer who wants to build products that use cutting edge technologies to provide a simple, easy to use, and a snappy user interface to solve complex problems with data. You demonstrate passion for solving complex and interesting problems that arise in the areas of distributed computing, high volume data processing and large scale system design. You have experience building enterprise class products and have some exposure to technologies such as query engines, columnar databases and Machine Learning.

Your Responsibilities This newly created role will be based in Redwood City, CA and will be responsible for:

• Incubating and designing the next generation data engine platform by manipulating data with high degree of interactivity

• Working closely with users and product managers in shaping the platform to meet functional requirements

• Proactively identifying architectural weaknesses and recommending appropriate solutions

• Developing information architectures/complex data models
• Interact with Informatica core platform to avail the core services offered by the robust platform that was built as a Services Oriented Architecture.

 

Your Qualifications

• 8 or more years of relevant professional experience, a portion of which was within a global enterprise software company
• Track record of building successful and innovative enterprise products
• Strong understanding of distributed computing paradigms with focus on scalable and highly available services
• Background in architecting, designing and implementing multi- threaded back end server components
• Demonstrated ability to write quality server side code in Java is a must
• Development experience building database internals and query engine is a plus
• Exposure to machine learning technologies or other self-learning and auto tuning systems is a plus
• Development experience in Agile environments
• Proven ability to work well with others in a fast paced, iterative product definition and development environment
• Ability to react quickly to changing requirements due to product limitations or driven by enterprise needs
• BS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred
