You will be a key member of a high impact Documentation organization of top professionals focused on customer satisfaction and superior execution. You will be part of a team writing innovative documentation for innovative products focused on big data, data integration, and the cloud in an agile development environment. You’ll be part of the Core Technology Group (CTG) which is a key innovation hub within Informatica.
Your Opportunity
You are an energetic Technical Writer who wants to gain experience authoring user manuals, online help, articles, videos, and tutorials that exceed customer expectations. You can work effectively in a fast-paced team environment focused on delivering products, developing documentation for new products and features, and maintaining existing documentation for ongoing releases. You will be an influential member of the team and look for opportunities to excel and collaborate within the team and cross functionally.

You are a passionate, dynamic, and talented technical writer who has outstanding written and verbal communication skills. You have excellent analytical abilities and strong technical skills. You are a self-starter and can be a high impact member of the documentation team and cross-functional teams. You are comfortable working with geographically dispersed teams, are comfortable with ambiguity, and can learn new products quickly. You deliver all content on schedule and to a high degree of quality. You put strong emphasis on performing content reviews and self-edits. You have a reputation for creating accurate, concise, usable, highly-polished content and collaborating with key constituents on planning and execution as appropriate.
Your Responsibilities
You will be based at our corporate headquarters in Redwood City, CA and report to a Senior Manager of Documentation. You will:
- Write easy-to-read and easy-to-find use case-based documentation
- Write about highly technical concepts
- Compile and test online help
- Create project plans, maintain schedules for specific projects, and communicate documentation status to documentation manager or lead
- Develop tutorials to improve first user experience
- Work with the user experience team to deliver meaningful error messages
- Contribute articles to our How-To Library
- Create videos that walk users through key functionality
- Write knowledge base articles to support internal and external customers
- Contribute to documentation team processes
- Edit documentation for completeness, style, and accuracy to ensure it reflects Informatica's commitment to quality
Your Qualifications
- 0-3 years of experience as a software technical writer.
- BA/MA/BS/MS (engineering, humanities, social sciences)
- Excellent analytical and written communication skills
- Excellent leadership and project management skills
- Ability to quickly learn technical information
- Ability to meet deadlines and help others meet them
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and develop schedules
- Ability to quickly learn technical information
- Helps develop and fine-tune documentation processes
- Understands the customer requirements and incorporates them into the documentation
- Is attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence, and owns and acts on quality problems
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of DITA and XMetaL
- Experience with JIRA and Confluence
- Experience with video and e-learning software
- Experience with help systems (Web Browser-based Help and Eclipse Help)
- Experience with content management systems
- Experience with Agile development cycles
