Position Title: Sr Technical Support Engineer

External Description:

Informatica is looking for an energetic and motivated System/Database Administrator to support our Global Customer Support centers across the world in USA, Germany, and India. This individual will:

• Help Informatica achieve increased Reliability, Availability, Uptime and Quality.
• Work in a demanding and fast-paced environment, which needs exceptional technical acuity and individual initiative combined with team work approach.
• Monitor highly available systems and work on sophisticated Cluster and Grid environment.
• Be a candidate who is goal-oriented and has the ability to handle interrupts while fluidly switching between several projects, and takes a "work smarter, not harder" approach.

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Perform various functionalities like system administrator, capacity planner, tools developer, monitoring expert, and technical evangelist.
• Very Strong knowledge in Scripting languages (Perl/Python) and automation deployment tools like Chef, Ansible or Puppet
• Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.  Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
• Position deals with a variety of problems and sometime has to decide which answer is best. The question/issues are typically clear and requires determination of which answer (from a few choices) is the best.
• Responsible for implementation and ongoing administration of Hadoop infrastructure. aligning with the systems engineering team to propose and deploy new hardware and software environments required for Hadoop and to expand existing environments. Working with data delivery teams to setup new Hadoop users. This job includes setting up Linux users, setting up Kerberos principals and testing HDFS, Hive, Pig and MapReduce access for the new users.
• Develop and maintain scripts for monitoring and reporting various aspects of system performance, resource utilization, and application usage.
• Interface with vendor support, internal application support IT team to resolve system issues.
• Install, configure, and manage large multi-node clusters on hard/soft/logical system partitions.
• Manage different flavors of UNIX systems including Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, HP-UX and Linux systems.
• Administer Informatica products in global lab environment.

 

Qualifications:

 

• 5-6 years Administering/supporting systems.
• Rich experience in system Administration especially in installation and configuration.
• This position requires Strong scripting skills, a passion for problem solving, deep understanding of networks, operating systems, multi-tiered Internet services, and the ability to learn new applications.
• Good team player and should be able to self learn new technologies.
• Excellent communication skills and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
