Position Title: Sr DevOps Engineer

External Description:

As a  permanent Senior System Administrator, manage a large-scale Unix environment operating worldwide. In addition to installing OS, you will choose & deploy commercial & open source tools & technologies to build & support a professional team of engineers, with an emphasis on operational self- service & continuous integration. You will maintain & manage Unix Servers and expected to have good practical understanding of technology, its application and be involved in maintaining and documenting day to day administration support activities.

 

Your Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SLES & AIX servers. This includes deploying patches, utilities, opensource software’s, performance data collection & analysis, systems admin activities, monitoring & more
• Assist with hardware and software installation, configuration, troubleshooting, patching and backup of client servers. Perform hardware and software upgrades.
• Install Unix tools and utilities requested by users and enforce best practices to be followed.
• Troubleshooting problems pertaining to performance tuning, network administration, application conflicts and system bugs
• Applies security and recommended operating system (OS) patches.
• Prioritizing the work from functional & technical perspectives to avoid escalations.
• Design, write, test, and maintain all necessary system documentation and testing plans

 

Your Qualifications

• MS or BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 5+ years of experience designing, implementing & managing Unix environment.
• Experience acting as Unix system administrator handling Physical and Virtual environments with opensource tools and utilities
• Experience installing, configuring & system administration activities on Linux servers (CentOS/ RHEL/Ubuntu) and AIX.
• Working knowledge on Administration of LPARs, HMC and VIO servers.
• Clear understanding of network services including DNS, SSH, FTP, RSYNC, NIS, NFS, SSL, NTP, SSSD, SNMP and LDAP.
• Strong experience with one of the scripting languages (Shell/Python)
• SAN S/W and storage administration and integration with operating systems
• Technical qualifications such as RHCE and IBM AIX certifications an advantage
• Familiarity with virtualization with knowledge chef/puppet configuration management tools.
• Clarity and precision in verbal and written communications and Excellent problem solving, analytical skills and technical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to learn new skills quickly as needed.
