Position Title: Principal Machine Learning Engineer

Informatica Research Lab focuses on research and development of cutting-edge technology to advance Informatica’s Industry leading Intelligent Data Management Cloud Platform. As part of the research lab, the data science group CLAIRE is focused on applying AI/ML to bring Simplicity, Productivity and Scale to our data platform. We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the group. 

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing data processing solutions   

In the role of Principal Software Engineer, you must be able to work and adapt in a fluid, fast-paced environment. You are a highly motivated professional who demonstrates strong programming and problem-solving skills along with the ability to quickly understand the product and grasp new technologies. You have a proven record of developing and delivering enterprise class software. You can work independently as well as with distributed teams. You are creative and like the excitement of working in a fast-paced environment. 

 

What You’ll Do 

• Lead the research and development of scalable solutions to be consumed at web-scale on the cloud 
• Drive architecture and design discussions with various product and platform architects to incorporate ML based solutions for the Informatica Enterprise Intelligent Data Platform 
• Develop and deliver critical ML components and services on the cloud in close collaboration with the Informatica product and platform engineering teams. 
• Provide technical direction to the team on developing and delivering cloud-based solutions 

• Lead architecture and designs of critical common components and services such as central data discovery services, metadata knowledge graph, data infrastructures for accelerating development of AI/ML components 
• Collaborate closely with chief architects and product leaders from the product and platform engineering teams. 
• Hiring strong and diverse talent to strengthen the team. 

 

Key Essentials 

• MS or above in Computer Science or related fields with at least 5 years of experience 
• Demonstrated experience architecting and developing large enterprise scale distributed, high performance platforms  
• Very strong technical skills with the ability to evaluate key technical proposals and hire and mentor excellent engineers 
• Proven experience in defining and architecting products in the data engineering space 
• Proven experience in technology leadership for cross functional engineering teams in delivering cutting edge products on the latest technologies 

• Experience incubating and delivering new products at enterprise scale is highly desirable 
• Expert level programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala 
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and mentor other team members 
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills

Nice to Have  

• Experience with machine learning – supervised, unsupervised, deep learning algorithms
