Retail Chief Strategist

We are currently looking for a Retail Chief Strategist reporting to the GVP, Industry Solutions Sales, and GTM to identify signals and opportunities inside and outside the company that could indicate threats to the continued success of the Retail industries or opportunities to increase market share. The Retail Chief Strategist will be responsible for Strategy, Business Development, building internal relationships (Field Sales, Marketing, Product, and Support), being the voice for the Retail Industry externally, and driving pipeline/demand generation objectives.

Summary 

The Retail Chief Strategist will function as a visionary and an industry expert who builds, oversees, and develops enterprise software go-to-market strategies for the Retail vertical (including all sub verticals within the parent vertical).   You will be responsible for collaborating closely with current and prospective customers, acting as a trusted Advisor who deeply understand our customers unique company challenges and goals. The Retail Chief Strategist will guide our customers on thought leadership, planning their strategic data initiatives alongside Informatica’s value prop. The Retail Chief Strategist will speak at all Informatica’s major events, customer round tables, and partner/hyperscale events working closely with our sales teams on joint call initiatives, and customer meetings.

Day-to-day Duties? Here's What You'll Be Doing

  • Strategy and Business Development
    • Defines the one-to-three-year vision and strategy for the retail vertical and develops a business plan around the industry.
    • Introduces metrics designed to track the effects of action plans and determine whether the actions effectively meet targets or whether new programs should be developed.
    • Identifies technology opportunities, dependencies, gaps, and risks.
    • Develops business models and channel models and drives go to market plans
    • Works with product teams to communicate key solution workflows and product enhancements.
    • Provides positioning for the Retail market, buyers, and target personas. 
    • Provides input into the enablement teams and assists with the enablement of our BDM & field sales teams. 

 

  • Build Collaborative Relationships Internally 
    • Maintains close customer relationships to effectively represent the voice of the customer. 
    • Serves as main internal point of contact from retail sales to build strong internal partnerships with Product Management and Marketing. 
    • Works with PR/AR and acts as a critical point of contact for key thought leaders in the industry, including industry specialists, research analysts, essential editors of the press, and other third parties in conjunction with Product Management. 
    • Proved record of successfully managing teams at leadership level and driving business improvements and results.

 

  • Be the Voice of Informatica Externally 
    • Provide retail industry leadership, developing and evangelizing the vision and plans for products and solutions. 
    • Engage customers and the retail industry through engagements such as customer councils, executive briefings, industry events, media support. 
    • Develop relationships with third-party vendors and forge strategic alliances. 
    • Work with sales in partnering with key customers to drive successful portfolio use and achieve success with early adopter customers and strategic and reference accounts. 

Key Essentials

  • At least 10-12+ years of experience in the retail market, including senior leadership roles in organizations.
  • Deep expertise in software vendor organizations and business operations.
  • Direct experience working with sales in the field to drive revenue; and proven success in developing solution, go-to-market, and partner strategies.
  • Knowledge of cloud and SaaS technology and business landscape.

  • Passion for technology and knowledge of software, IT, and technology trends, including a strong interest in conceptual, computational, and generative design. 
  • Exceptional customer/market research, analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven history of driving net new pipeline and achieving demand generations for Sales
  • Experience supporting sales from an Industry sales standpoint and helping win Net New Logos
  • Skilled diplomat with proven conflict-resolution skills, a high level of confidence, and maturity with solid experience working across large corporations in a matrix environment. 
  • Demonstrate practical communication skills and executive solid presentation skills 
  • Excellent people skills are required to build strong relationships, particularly with sales, field, and product organizations and partners, and to be highly successful in a matrix management organization.
