Technical Writer in Redwood City, CA

We're looking for a Technical Writer candidate with experience in internal operational documentation to join our team in Redwood City, CA ( Hybrid).

You will report to the Senior Director, Documentation

You will contribute to excellent and effective operational standards and practices within the Products organization.

Technology You'll Use

Lucid Chart, video software such as Camtasia, and/or e-learning software such as Articulate Rise

Your Role Responsibilities? Here's What You'll Do

  • Write and edit highly technical content that describes policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Write and edit playbooks.
  • Organize and maintain internal wiki pages, including regular reviews of content.
  • Create, update, and maintain product and infrastructure architecture diagrams.
  • Develop, edit, and record training materials for an internal audience.
  • Create internal R&D newsletters and communications.
  • Effectively scribe and transcribe critical meetings and whiteboarding sessions.
  • Track tasks, maintain schedules for specific projects, and communicate status to documentation lead and engineering leads.
  • Edit content for completeness, style, and accuracy
  • Write customer-facing product documentation as needed.

What We'd Like to See

  • Knowledge of cloud security and engineering processes and operations
  • Familiarity with compliance certifications like SOC 2, HIPAA, and FedRAMP
  • Experience with content management systems, source control systems, Jira, and Confluence
  • Experience with Lucid Chart, video software such as Camtasia, and/or e-learning software such as Articulate Rise
  • Can effectively utilize PowerPoint to surface information concisely and in a consumable, visually appealing manner

Role Essentials

  • BA/MA/BS/MS or equivalent (engineering, technical communications, humanities, social sciences)
  • Minimum 1+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Project management skills
  • Learn technical information
  • Able to understand requirements and incorporate them into the documentation
  • Accuracy, owns and acts on quality problems
  • Can engage efficiently and effectively with stakeholders to gather the required information needed to successfully complete tasks.
  • Able to work in a systematic manner while allowing scope for new and changing requirements.
  • Can design, implement, and align processes and standards to improve efficiency and productivity within the scope of process and operational documentation.
  • BA/BS or equivalent educational background, we will consider an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant professional experience
