Position Title: Senior IT Systems Engineer

External Description:

Senior systems administrators are responsible for designing, planning, putting into place, and having the highest level of performance as an expert in the system administration. Senior systems administrators research and select upgrades, software and other necessities for their company's computer systems. They are also required to design and support on premise footprints for SaaS solutions, including all integration points, configuration needs, communication channels, and administer those SaaS applications form end to end. Senior systems administrators are also responsible for training and mentoring other junior administrators within the team. They must be well versed in technology and have a strong ability to plan, organize, evaluate and redesign system designs to have them work better for the company. In addition, senior systems administrators must have strong communication skills (both verbal and written), be a team player and perform difficult tasks well under pressure.

 

Senior Systems Administrator Tasks

  • Diagnose and correct computer systems issues.
  • Configure and troubleshoot software and hardware enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure up-grades.
  • Participate in or lead global projects
  • Manage a hybrid Cloud SaaS infrastructure with multiple vendor integrated systems.
  • Work with business units to gather requirements and build & architect systems infrastructure for various projects
  • Manage Office 365 Systems and Applications including (but not limited to) Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, O365 Unified Groups, Teams, Planner and Flow
  • Administer Active Directory 2016 including DNS, DHCP, GPO’s, OUs, power shell scripts, and delegation profiles.
  • Manage and Administer Identity Management systems and Single Sign On
  • Work with lead Windows Systems Administrator to train offshore Global Operations Center team in repetitive Level 1 & 2 tasks (server builds, incident management, standard opration procedures) and new technologies for 24x7 incident support
  • Do performance tuning, configuring and upgrading of infrastructure critical systems
  • Assist with system disaster recovery requirements
  • Demonstrate knowledge of F5 load balancers VIPs, architecting fault tolerant systems
  • Recommend leading edge approaches to automation, self-service, and efficiency of systems
  • Demonstrate experience with LDAP, ADFS, SAML 2.x, Kerberos

 

Technical Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science or related degree.  
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
  • Microsoft Active Directory 2016
  • Windows Server 2008R2 through 2016
  • Exchange Server 2010 through 2016
  • DNS Management including SPF, DKIM, SRV records and Geo-DNS.
  • PowerShell scripting to automate tasks
  • Understanding of authentication systems including LDAP, Kerberos & SAML
  • Okta Certification preferred
  • Hybrid or public Cloud IaaS experience
  • DHCP configurations
  • VMware Vsphere 5.x/6.x Administration
  • Server Hardware administration and provisioning (HP / Dell / Cisco)
