Your Opportunity 

 

We are looking for a Performance Engineer with a proven record of performance automation, performance testing and engineering to deliver high performance, scalable and stable enterprise class software. In this role, you will be responsible for creating performance automation scripts, executing, monitoring and analyzing performance bottleneck of product. You will work in a fast-paced environment delivering product and feature increments in short iterations. Your technical skills will be very critical to deliver product functionalities across releases.

Your Responsibilities 

The performance engineer works closely with just about every team member to ensure our applications perform well under load and stable. That means writing and executing performance use cases, monitoring performance of application, servers and processes involved, conducting performance analysis, identifying performance bottleneck and working with the right people to resolve the issues. The performance engineer will identify and collect the necessary metrics to ensure the performance, stability and scalability of Informatica's products. The performance engineer will also have to suggest on code improvisation or technology adoption for better performance and be able to identify the gaps.  
 
The performance testing engineer will also get pulled into escalated production performance issues. That means they will need to be able to perform under pressure, manage multiple concurrent tasks, and present information clearly and concisely to upper management. 
 
Required Skills: 
Experience: 
- Design and develop performance test plans, test cases based upon requirements and Customer use cases  
- Create and execute test scripts for performance use cases 

- Experience with performance monitoring tools and understanding performance metrics 
- Experience in performance analysis at different layer such as JAVA Tuning and UI tuning.

- Conduct performance analysis and report findings to product teams and senior management.  

- Deep understanding of JVM architecture, parameters and tuning.  
- Work closely with the development teams to analyze the performance issues, debug and resolve any issues  
- Collaborate effectively with peer engineers and architects to solve complex problems spanning their respective areas to deliver end-to-end performance quality in our technology and customer experience  
- Understand business use cases, internal/external performance Benchmarks, debugging performance issues, designing automation framework, decision making on issues, technical assistance in performance analysis and tuning DB/OS etc.  
- Influences development managers to ensure appropriate levels of Performance quality on owned technologies.  

- A deep understanding of performance testing methodologies, like Performance Testing Guidelines for Web and JAVA Applications. 

- Good to have understanding of IoT domain, streaming technologies, structured streaming, cloud connectors, knowledge on Kafka, Kinesis and so on.

- Good to have understanding of cloud, microservices and so on.

- Good to have understanding of Hadoop technology, monitoring and performance analysis of Hadoop components such as HDFS, Hbase, YARN, SPARK, Zookeeper and etc.
- Influences and communicates effectively with non-technical audiences including senior product and business management  
 
 

Your Qualifications 

- BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical degree  
- 3 to 6 years of experience in performance testing and engineering for high data volume management products 
- Minimum 2+ years working experience in creating and executing performance automation scripts using JMeter 

- Proven experience in identifying performance bottlenecks and measuring performance of enterprise applications and servers 

- Experience with performance monitoring tools, commands and deep understanding performance metrics 

- Experience with Java Application Performance analysis and tuning in the context of server or middleware applications  

- Experience in performance test data creation methodologies and tools 
- Experience in performance analysis and tuning of Streaming connectors. 
- Must have expertise in application profiling tools Yourkit, Jvisual VM, JProfiler, Jprobe or any other java profiler 

- Knowledge of Perl or Shell scripting to analyze logs quickly and isolate the performance issue 
- Experience in QA framework enhancements

- Experience in spark engine, good to have structured streaming experience. 

- Knowledge on cloud, cloud connectors, microservices, streaming concepts, Nifi are add on.

- Experience with Hadoop application Performance testing and tuning for scalable very large enterprise application is plus 

- Strong working knowledge in Linux/Unix/Windows Operating system and tuning operating system parameters 
- In-depth understanding of large complex software systems to isolate defects, reproduce defects, assess risk and understand varied customer deployments  

- Excellent problem solving, analytical skills and technical troubleshooting skills  
- Clarity and precision in verbal and written communication  
- Ability to work with customers, developers, documentation, product management, support staff  
- Familiarity with software development life cycles and agile programming methodologies  
- Self-interested to develop in depth knowledge on technologies and tools used in performance testing and engineering 

- Ability to come forward with new ideas to continuously improve efficiency of the performance engineering process as technology evolves and showcase to top management.  

- Ability to learn new skills quickly as needed
